Umber plays brown, green, pink, white and other noise colors, made on your phone. It is developed by Aneest Studio (“we”). This page explains what the app keeps, where anything goes, and how to remove it.
The short version
- Umber has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
- What you choose in the app stays on your phone. We have no server that receives it.
- The only service Umber talks to is the one that handles Umber Pro: when the app opens, and when you buy or restore, it checks your purchase with Apple or Google through RevenueCat.
What stays on your phone
Umber stores these on your device only:
- the sound you last chose, its tone and the volume;
- the mixes you save, with their names;
- your sleep timer choices (length, fade, and your last custom time);
- whether Umber Pro is unlocked, so it stays unlocked when you are offline;
- a few counts that decide when Umber may ask you to rate it: the day you first opened it, how many longer listening sessions you have had, and when it last asked.
The sounds are generated on the phone and saved there as short audio loops; nothing is downloaded. The fonts are built into the app. None of the above leaves your device, and deleting the app deletes it.
Purchases
Umber Pro is a one-time purchase made through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handle the payment; we never see your card details.
To check the purchase, the app uses RevenueCat, a purchase service. It asks RevenueCat when the app opens (so Pro stays unlocked, and is removed if a purchase is refunded), when you open the Umber Pro page, and when you buy or restore. RevenueCat receives an anonymous ID that the app creates on your device, your purchase records from the store, and basic technical details such as the app version, the operating system version, your store country and the IP address the request comes from. It does not receive your name or email, and nothing about how you use Umber. We use this only to unlock Umber Pro on your devices.
Ratings
Now and then Umber may show the store’s own rating window, or open the store page when you tap “Rate Umber”. Anything you write there goes to Apple or Google under their terms, not to us.
Who else is involved
- Apple: App Store purchases and ratings.
- Google: Google Play purchases and ratings.
- RevenueCat: checking and restoring purchases, as described above.
We don’t sell or share anything with anyone else, and Umber contains no advertising or analytics code.
Permissions
- Playing in the background: so the sound keeps going with the screen off. On Android this uses a media notification with play and pause, a foreground service and a wake lock.
- Internet: only for checking, buying and restoring Umber Pro, and for opening this page, the terms and the store page in your browser. Umber works fully offline otherwise.
Umber does not ask for your location, contacts, microphone, camera or photos, and does not ask to track you.
This website
These pages use no cookies, scripts or web fonts. Like any web server, ours keeps a short-lived log of requests (IP address, page and time) for security; it is not used for anything else.
Removing your data
Deleting Umber removes everything it stored on your phone. To have RevenueCat’s anonymous purchase record removed, email us; your purchase itself stays with Apple or Google, so you can still restore it.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing the address below. As the app keeps your choices only on your phone, there is usually nothing on our side beyond RevenueCat’s anonymous record. We answer within 30 days. If you live in the EU or the UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Umber is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age where you live) and collects no personal information from anyone. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email support@aneesstudio.com and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects what is collected or how it is used, we’ll say so in the app.
